PF01 Crest This is one of the oldest and rarest perfumes in our collection. In over 30 years of collecting vintage Hawaiiana we have only found it once. This example can be found on page 52 of our book, Lei in a Bottle, Collecting Hawaiian Perfume Bottles. As shown in the photo the glass dauber is encased in the wooden top. Gump's and Harders are the only companies we know of that used this method. The top unscrews rather than lifting out as is most common with the carved perfumes. The wood is usually Monkeypod, Koa, or Milo. This wood bottle measures approximately 4" in height. On the front is a stylized version of the Royal Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Hawaii. Price $495.00. Priority Mail to the U.S. is $5.00. Optional insurance is $6.70. PF04 Seahorse While the first carved perfumes primarily replicated flowers, the carvers soon began to create more fanciful offerings. The seahorse is a favorite of all collectors. It measures approximately 6 1/2" in height. The patent number is stamped on the bottom as well as it's origination, "Milo wood". The encased glass bottle is not original. We have never considered that to be of importance when collecting as the original perfumes are all evaporated and don't retain the original scent. The condition is very good. The details are precisely carved, a fine example of the work done during Hawaii's arts and crafts period. Price $125.00. Priority Mail in the U.S. is $8.30. Optional insurance is $2.75.
